Castle to offer year-round skiing

Castle Mountain Resort, AB – April 1, 2017

For Immediate Release

After another 63 cm’s of fresh snow fell this week at Castle Mountain Resort, the board of directors and management have decided to spin the lifts year-round. The bold move, announced after several beverages at the T-Bar Pub late last night, will make Castle Mountain Resort North America’s first year-round ski destination.

“We just couldn’t handle that the guys and gals up the road in Valemount, BC were going to beat us to the punch as North America’s first year-round ski resort” said Sasquatch McSnowy, General Manager of Castle. “We’re pretty sure it’s just never going to stop snowing” he continued as he cleared his snorkel of spring powder, “so we’re just going to send it”.

The move is sure to result in an increase of folks sporting goggle tans, in the Castle area all year long, as they seek to get their ski on. Local yokel, Cam Curmudgeon, could be overheard swearing in the corner “Damn management won’t shut up about all the snow. I’ve never seen so many city folk here in all my life. I was really hoping to bag my post season powder laps in peace.”

While you’ve likely already clued in that the above is a bit far-fetched (Happy April Fools!), this week’s snowfall is anything but a joke. The past seven days has pushed Castle over the 900 cm mark for cumulative snowfall, on the season; 924 cm’s as of March 31. An additional 20 to 30 cm’s of snowfall is forecast for the resort on Sunday night, into Monday.

“We’re a fun loving bunch down here in Southern Alberta” said Cole Fawcett, Sales & Marketing Coordinator for the resort, “but we don’t joke around when it comes to skiing and riding conditions; it’s THAT good out there”.

Also not a joke is that Children can ski FREE at Castle Mountain Resort through to Closing Day on April 9th. Castle season pass holders, Cruisin’ the Castle card holders, Lake Louise season pass holders, and Lake Louise Plus card holders can sign in up to two (2) children daily for the free ticket offer with the card / pass holder present at time of purchase. Please visit http://www.skicastle.ca/bonus-days/ for complete offer details.

Ha, ha! But let’s turn the lifts until the end of April when we can, like this season.
