Who says snow cats are just for skiers?
At Castle Mountain Resort you now have the chance to climb aboard our Powder Stagecoach for our all new Scenic Snow Cat Experience. Whisking you high onto Haig Ridge, you’ll enjoy hot chocolate and snacks at the top of the world, witnessing stunning alpine vistas while you do. This is a non-skiing activity and all that’s required is warm clothing for the chairlift ride up to meet the cat, in addition to coming in handy for when you stop ridge top, for your photo op.

What to Expect
Our experience first takes us on a scenic chairlift ride, via the Huckleberry Chairlift, just as our last skiers and snowboarders board the lift for their last run of the day. When at the top, we’ll pause to take in the beauty and magnificence of the Westcastle Valley before getting our safety briefing for what’s appropriate in and around the cat.
The real fun begins when we board the snow cat, taking a ride up Haig Ridge to “Haig Ridge Lookout”. At the top we’ll pause for a photo opportunity and indulge in snacks / hot chocolate at the top of the world! After our stop we’ll then proceed back down the ridge and then out to “Haig Lake Lookout”, one of Castle’s notable summer wonders, at the base of the inspiring Mount Haig.
Last but not least, you’ll be dropped off immediately outside the T-Bar Pub where you can put your food & beverage credit to use!
Check in at CMR Snow School no later than 3:30 PM
Upload Huckleberry Chair just before 4 PM (accompanied by tour host)
Board the Powder Stagecoach, at top of Huckleberry Chairlift, near 4:00 PM
Arrive ridge top near 4:30 PM where you’ll stop for photos and enjoy hot chocolate & a delicious snack
The cat will descend from the alpine and make it’s way out to Haig Lake Lookout, where we’ll make a second photo stop
Return to the base area near 6:00 PM
As an added bonus, a $10 T-Bar Pub voucher is included for each guest
Each experience features only 12 available spots.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations outside 7 days prior to trip date, will be completely refunded.
Cancellations within 7 days are non-refundable. In the event that you are unable to attend, your option would be to transfer your seat to another person. Written notice (email) is required of any changes along with complete contact information for the new guest.
If the Powder Stagecoach is unable to run due to weather, or other unforeseen circumstances, an alternative date will be offered or a full refund will be provided.
Once your reservation has been accepted, changes to your date are not permitted.
Is the snow cat heated?
The Powder Stagecoach cabin is heated. While the cabin will be significantly warmer than the outside temperature it can still be chilly in comparison to the day lodge, as an example.
Are private bookings available?
Yes! Looking for a date for your group which isn’t a regularly scheduled one? No worries, our Scenic Snow Cat Experience can be offered almost any day.
Private bookings carry a cost of $899.95 + GST and can accommodate up to 12 guests.
Do I have to get out of the snow cat at anytime?
Each tour features two stops. Our first stop will be at our ridge top viewpoint, high atop Haig Ridge, for approximately 15 minutes before coming back down the cat road. Once we return to the Huckleberry zone, we’ll make a turn out towards the Haig Valley stopping at our valley floor viewpoint near Haig Lake.
At either time, we highly encourage you to hop out, stretch your legs, and take some photos of the beautiful landscape before you. Getting out of the snow cat is encouraged but not mandatory. Don’t forget your camera!!
What should I wear?
We encourage all of our guests to dress in layers. Since you’ll be taking a 10 – 15 minute chairlift ride, prior to getting into the snow cat, the same attire you would wear skiing or snowboarding should been seen as appropriate. If you layer appropriately, you’ll be able to remove a layer or two while you’re in the snow cat to avoid overheating. You’ll also be able to put those same layers back on for when you step out of the cat at the viewpoint, high up on Haig Ridge.
Can I bring my skis / snowboard?
Unfortunately not, as this is strictly a sightseeing tour. Our cat hosts will not load any guests who bring ski or snowboard equipment with them. Should you be interested in trying your hand at cat skiing / snowboarding, click on the cat skiing portion of our website for more info.
Is there a washroom on the cat?
Unfortunately there is not a washroom on the snowcat nor are there washroom facilities available during the tour. We encourage you to use the washroom prior to meeting your tour guide at the beginning of the tour. We will be gone approximately 2 1/4 – 2 1/2 hours so plan your bathroom breaks accordingly!
