SUMMARY:CASTLE ALPINE TRAIL RACE
DESCRIPTION:Prepare yourself for an endurance race like no other with the Castle Alpine Trail Race hosted by Sinister Sports\, and taking place right here at Castle Mountain Resort. \nCastle Alpine Trail Race (let’s call it CAT\, OK?) combines wide open vistas\, rugged single track\, off-trail running\, and so much delicious climbing. While it isn’t an extraordinarily long race distance-wise\, CAT is like a schoolyard bully – it’s going to rough you up and doesn’t relent the whole day. \nThis is a classic trail run covering two mountain summits and one of the most serene alpine valleys in the region. Each stage starts and ends at Castle Mountain Resort\, so you don’t even really need a support crew – just park your kit in the staging area and do some quick transitions. DESCRIPTION:Drifter Days are back – the annual\, volunteer brush clearing / thinning days on the Drifter run. \nVolunteers should meet at the Castle Mountain Resort maintenance shop at 8:00 AM. There will be a brief safety meeting before we leave for the top of the mountain. If you can’t be on time be 5 minutes early. \nTHE PLAN:\n\nThe mission for Drifter Days is to clear out deadfall on the slopes. Your knees & legs (and friends) will thank you for removing the dangers that hide below snow on these slopes.\nSplit into work groups based on the number of people that show up.\n1 – 2 helpers per person with a saw. If you don’t have a chainsaw\, we still need your muscles for removing / piling debris\, carrying jerry cans\, etc.\nAlternative Help – if you don’t want or are unable to work on the slope or don’t have much time\, we could use help with the following:\n\nTruck to transport equipment and volunteers\nDriving the crew to the top of the mountain in the morning\nPicking up the crew from Cinch Traverse at the end of the day\nMonitoring the radio during the day\n\n\n\nWHAT TO BRING:\n\nlunch and lots of water\nwork gloves\nhat\nprotective glasses\near protection\, if you have some\, we’ll round up some ear plugs as well\ngood solid footwear – work boots\, hiking boots\, etc. We will be working in rough terrain and on steep slopes\nsuitable clothes for rough work – no shorts\nChain saw if you have one\n\nIt always works out better if you operate your own saw\, please make sure it is sharpened and bring the correct file to sharpen the chain\, the wrench and screwdriver for the saw\nOnly bring enough gas and oil for the day\, no extra.\n\n\nRequired – protective chainsaw pants for those running equipment\nRadio – if you have access to a radio with a hill channel please bring it.\n\nBring a friend and pass the word along that we can use all the help we can get. \nFeel free to let Dennis Miller know if you can attend or if you have any questions you can email him at d516miller@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:30TH ANNUAL HUCKLEBERRY FESTIVAL
DESCRIPTION:Our annual Huckleberry Festival is our biggest event of the summer! With more than 1500 attendees annually\, there’s something for everyone.\n\nThe festival represents the one day each summer that Castle operates one of its chairlifts\, for scenic chairlift rides\, providing great access to several huckleberry patches. If hiking and berry picking isn’t your thing\, you’ll be sure to love all of the free\, live music in the base area of the resort\, along with great food and drink. Pick up some unique and interesting items at our mountain market\, or just let the kids enjoy our extensive kids zone\, with all kinds of fun games.\n\nAccess to the festival grounds is absolutely free\, with chairlift rides\, food\, and drink available for a cost. DESCRIPTION:** We are saddened to cancel our Slush Cup this year due to conditions. Those who have already registered will be issued refunds.** \n  \nGo full send and try to waterski / ride across our huge man-made pond! Not up for participating? Don’t worry\, this is one of the best spectating events of the season! Our annual Slush Cup event is not one you’re going to want to miss and takes place at the bottom of Whiskey Jack\, within the base area. This event will take place on Saturday\, March 28! \nRegistration\n\nThere is a pre-registration fee of $15 if registered via online sign-up prior to\, and a $20 registration fee day-of (if spots remain).\n\nSchedule of Events\n\n8:00 AM – 1:00 PM – Registration and bib pick-up / check-in\n1:30 PM – Event start / runs begin\n3:00 PM – Last run. Any participant not having arrived at the start ramp by this time will forfeit the ability to ski / ride the pit\n3:45 PM – Awards (ATCO Community Stage)\n\nRules \n\nEach participant will receive one (1) run through the slush cup course. Additional runs are not permitted.\nAll participants will be issued a bib with their participant number. Those arriving at the course without their bib will be deemed ineligible to participate.\nLocation of the starting ramp will be determined by Castle Mountain Resort officials.\nAll participants must wear a helmet – absolutely no exceptions will be made.\nParticipants may not leave the starting gate without permission from the starter.\nNo inverted aerial maneuvers / jumps.\nAbsolutely no nudity. Costumes deemed inappropriate will result in disqualification.\nAny guests deemed to be under the influence of drugs / alcohol will be disqualified and are unable to participate\nA maximum of 100 participants will be accepted on a first-come\, first-serve basis.\nDress to get wet! All participants are encouraged to bring a towel / change of clothing.\nParticipants will be required to sign a waiver\, during the mandatory registration / check-in period in Guest Services – no waiver\, no runs\, no exceptions. Participants\, under the age of 18\, will be required to have a legal parent or guardian sign a waiver on their behalf.\n\nJudging\nOur panel of Slush Cup judges will select our 2025 champions in three categories: Best Splash\, Best Form\, & Best Costume.

Live music occurs outdoors\, on the ATCO Community Stage\, every Saturday from 2 PM to 5 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 4 PM.
