As many of our locals would attest to, weather hasn’t been our best friend as of late. Despite some bountiful November snowfall, very little of it has stayed with us into December and it’s been incredibly dry and warm ever since those epic dumps.
Last Friday we were fortunate to be granted a Temporary (water) Diversion License which has enabled us to triple our meager snow-making capacity. If it weren’t for our friends at Pass Powderkeg, in the Crowsnest Pass, not even this would matter. But, being the great partners that they are, they have loaned us a couple of their old snow guns, which have been working great considering the warmer weather. We continue to make progress with snow-making in the base area and on North Road, as temperatures allow, but progress has been slow. We’ll continue making snow on North Road so that we can get full mountain access, as soon as possible.
With all that, we are going to open Friday, December 15, with Buckaroo and the Green Chair. While this is much less terrain than we had originally hoped for, these lifts will be spinning and there is an outside chance that we’ll be able to open additional terrain depending on how much snow falls on Friday night. Speaking of Friday night, Tynan Groves will be playing in the T-Bar Pub starting at 9 PM. Our friends from the Boarderline will be running the “Jibathon” rail jam in the base area on Saturday from Noon until 4 PM, and our much anticipated day lodge party with Shred Kelly will take place on Saturday night (doors at 9). We still anticipate this event will sell out which means you’re best bet is to buy online, in advance.
Additional updates on conditions and open terrain will be posted on our Snow Report.
